Humphrey's Midtown ("we," "us") runs this site so you can see how alive the bar is before you come out. Here's exactly what that involves — and, just as important, what it doesn't.
The live headcount on our site is a count, not a camera roll. We do not run facial recognition. We do not identify you, estimate your age, or guess your gender. No images of you are captured or stored to produce that number. We don't sell your data to anyone.
Our homepage shows roughly how many people are in the room and how full it is. It is a single anonymous number, set either by a staff member tapping how busy it is, or by an occupancy sensor that counts people without identifying anyone. If it hasn't been updated recently, we show no number at all rather than a stale one.
If you submit a photo through the site's "Send us a shot" feature, it goes into a review queue. A staff member looks at each one, and only approved photos appear on the crowd wall.
"Ask Humphrey" answers questions about specials, hours, and how busy it is. When you send it a message, that message is processed by our AI provider to generate a reply.
This site uses only what's needed to function [and basic, privacy-respecting analytics to understand traffic — remove this clause if you don't run analytics]. We don't use advertising trackers. [If you later add analytics or a cookie banner, update this section to name the tool and what it collects.]
We use a few trusted services to run the site. Each only receives what it needs to do its job:
These providers handle data under their own privacy terms. We don't sell or rent your information to anyone.
Headcount numbers are kept only as long as useful for showing current and recent activity. Submitted photos are kept while they're relevant to the crowd wall, or until you ask us to remove yours. [Set your own retention windows here if you have specific ones.]
This site is intended for people of legal drinking age. It isn't directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under [21].
If we change how the site handles information, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above.
